Bio
Isaac Biver is a 19 year old Guitarist from Freeburg, Illinois, born in Pyongtaek, South Korea. He began his musical journey with guitar lessons around age 14 without any musical interests beforehand. Shortly after beginning lessons, he quickly became hooked and obsessed with the instrument. His previous interests all started to vanish as the guitar was becoming one of the biggest parts of his life. After taking lessons for about a year, the COVID-19 pandemic emerged and in person lessons weren't an option. Isaac soon discovered many Fingerstyle Guitar players and started emulating their styles via Youtube. This was the first major step in Isaac's progression in building real technique on the instrument and players like Sungha Jung became immensely important to his musical journey.
After many, many hours of studying, practicing and obsession throughout the pandemic, Isaac discovered another musician that would become quite possibly the most important in his musical life, Chet Atkins. Isaac was quickly discovering another side of Fingerstyle Guitar, often referred to as Thumbpicking. Along with Chet, he was getting into players such as Jerry Reed, Merle Travis, Lenny Breau, Leo Kottke and many others. Along with many of the founders of this style, Isaac was also following many of the big names in the guitar world of today that continue this tradition of music, and before long, through different events and circumstances, was getting to know some of these players like John Knowles CGP, Tommy Emmanuel CGP, Pat Bergeson, Richard Smith, Jim Nichols, and many others. Around this time, Isaac was also starting to pick up some of his first solo gigs and through connections and friends, was starting to become more established in the music industry.
Isaac's musical interests have only kept expanding. Later, he drew great interests in other styles like Blues Guitar. Some of his other heroes today include players like Michael Bloomfield, BB, Freddie & Albert King, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Duane Allman, Robben Ford, and many others. Especially through Chet, Isaac was also being turned onto Jazz Guitar greats like Johnny Smith, Wes Montgomery, Ted Greene, among others. He has also continued his great admiration for other great musicians that were some of his early influences on the instrument including The Beatles, Tom Petty, Mark Knopfler, John Prine, Paul Simon, etc. Today, Isaac has a great admiration for and plays all kinds of styles and music including Fingerstyle Guitar, Blues Guitar, Folk Music, Jazz, Rock, Slide Guitar, Country and more.
Isaac's progression and journey as a musician has only continued to grow. He has been very fortunate to have gotten to know many of the best musicians in the industry through traveling, performing and achievements and has built many lifelong friendships through them. Isaac's recognitions include being the 2023 International Home of the Legends Thumbpicking Grand Champion in both the Traditional & Junior categories, receiving the 2024 Horizon Award from the National Thumbpickers Hall of Fame, receiving the 2024 Marton L. Carroll Classical Guitar Grant, and many other musical scholarships.
